Dwell

text / spoken word performance
2019

Dwell is a mutable work, evolving each time it is performed. Written as a series of notes-to-self it conveys the experiencing of time passing through movement and stasis, action and inaction. The work attempts to chart the ongoing task of locating oneself in the world through mediated experiences such as seasonal changes, screen brightness settings and streamed sunrises. The cyclical narrative echoes the affect of exhaustion and the restlessness of the performance each time wether it  be the deteriation of the voice using a Kaoss pad, the body reading whilst on a treadmill or a webcam streaming whilst reading to the light of a SAD lamp.
